GOOD Magazine Give-Away For July 2007
1.08.07 @ 1:40 pmEven with the low July comment totals we might as well still give away a GOOD magazine subscription. Out resident smart-ass Wild Guess is taking home the prize this time - meaning I get to blow $20 on him… Lovely.
All sarcasm aside, I am really glad to give Wild Guess a little thank-you gift as he brings quite a bit of interesting discussion around this blog in a different style than many other commenters. He definitely deserves a spiffy magazine to keep him busy.
I am planning to put a lot more time into some serious articles in August which will definitely increase the amount of comments. Traffic and return visitors were up in July, I just did not provide any content that encouraged discussion. So keep checking in during August and be a part of the discussion - you might just get yourself a new magazine subscription.

I have to admit that as a reader, I was a little disappointed to see so few articles this month, which are by far the highlight of the SRD experience. Then again, I understand how busy of a few weeks it was for you and your family. Family and work come first, of course.
*My ultimate disappointment, which I cannot hide, is that Wild Guess’ potty mouth won a subscription. Not to mention that he didn’t make the $10 minimum in comments. Is SRD now resorting to low tactics such as favoritism and bribes, typically common of such tyrants as Fox News or the gov’t. Hmmmm.

kellie - I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of full articles this month. I have so many rough drafts in the queue, but they just are not ready yet. August should be a better month, especially with some time specifically set aside for this very thing.
Daily postings are a double-edged sword. There is no doubt whatsoever that the daily postings are cutting into the time to write more substantiative articles. However, a constant stream of content also seems very appealing as a reader.
Perhaps I am just flat out wrong on this. I may be just spinning my wheels and not providing anything people want to see. Frankly, I miss the longer, well thought-out content on this site and I just don’t have the time to do that as often.
What features do you like on this site and what do you think can be tossed aside? For me, the biggest target is the Weekly Photograph as it is just content overlap. If people want to see my photos, they can see it at 36 Clicks. I think if we were really into cutting the fat, would could combine the Weekly Links and Designing Good. It’s the same format, why not just put the two together and save some time?
Seriously guys, your thoughts here would be greatly appreciated. This blog is taking more and more time - the more efficient it can be, the more I can time I can spend on actually writing real articles.
