Weekly Photograph - Bus Stop
25.09.06 @ 1:44 pmRecently, I have been shooting quite a bit of night shots. There is no doubt that I have a fondness for night photography, but the sole reason for the large quantity of night photos lately is a lack of time. This photo in particular is very similar to a past photograph I took some months back. For whatever reason, this scene interests me greatly so I decided to have another go at it.
So, as you can see, I decided to go black and white this time. I am currently spending some time learning about the fundamentals of color correction and then trying to apply them within Photoshop. Yes, Photoshop levels do the trick, but I am noticing some very nice results by trying to mimic the film darkroom process within the application. I feel very strongly in keeping the photographic integrity of each shot I take. It is disturbingly easy to make something "pop" with Photoshop - but there is always a tint of false-ness to the image in the end. I definitely want to get the most out of the photo I take, but I want it to be the same photo in the end. I think people who view our photos want that as well...
This whole scene took on a completely different personality in black and white - which does not surprise me at all. I love the deep, bright colors that color film brings out in night photography, but I have come to equally appreciate the beauty of the infinite shades of grey that you can get from black and white night photography.

The craziness of last week is now over - let’s do that this weekend.
On a side note, if anyone else would be interested in purchasing prints from me, please let me know and I would love to set something up.

EXCELLENT! I am looking forward to decorating my apartment with more stuff from fellow artist friends.
PJ’s prints are beautiful at an 8×10 size. Its even better framed, on a wall. I recommend looking through his Flickr site and checking out the various images. Lots of good work to consider….
