Weekly Photograph - Dark Alley
1.03.07 @ 12:29 amI do not get into Chinatown that often, but when I do, I am always surprised by how much there is to photograph. Even the mundane is somehow interesting to me. Perhaps it is because I do not frequent the district that much. Either way, I really do enjoy it.
My hope is that this will be the last digital photo in this series for quite some time. Nonetheless, I really do enjoy this photo and all the mood that comes with it. I tried playing with under-developing some shots and attempting to push up the RAW file a bit. For one reason or another, the noise generated through this process did not bother me like it usually does. Still, I was very cautious not to push the image too much - I really make it a point to stick as closely to the original as possible. All the contrast and shadows really pulled me into this scene. I was glad that the shot turned out.

Wow, you’ve blown yourself out of the water. I believe this photo has raised the bar and I also think
it is an SFMOMA worthy piece….
Beautiful and subtle are two descriptions that come to mind. There is also a very delicate balance in the composition because of the lack of contrast, but you’ve managed to make it work.
