Weekly Photograph - Old Man Waiting
1.05.07 @ 12:47 pmMy wife and I were hanging around Clement Street a couple weekends ago when I took this photo. I loved the perspective I had of this person and I was able to take a couple quick photos - this was my favorite.
I really have fallen in love with my 105mm lens - so much so that it has held off my desire for the amazing Nikkor 85mm lens. The sharpness of the 105mm is just amazing and the slightly extra zoom that I get over the 85mm pays off many times. I have already taken some of my all-time favorite photos with this lens, after only owning it for a few months. I am not too much of camera-gear fanboy, but it is more than apparent to me that the camera/lens you shoot with is going to have a significant impact on the quality of you photo. Many of these issues can be alleviated with Photoshop, but there is a sense of pride to have a photo go straight from negative to paper/screen untouched. A great camera and lens will do nothing to help composition, but it definitely will help get the most from it.
On another note, in the upcoming weeks, photography is going to be taking a much larger part of this site. I feel like I am starting to take some photos that some folks may be interested - I guess we will find out if I am right.
