Weekly Photograph - Shadow
19.01.07 @ 11:08 pmI make it a point to bring a camera along with me to work every now and then to possibly capture a compelling scene. I have yet to run into one of them, but my time will come... Still, the light around where I work is quite nice - allowing for some really high contrast shots, like the one above.
I have taken quite a large number of photos this last week but none of them really spoke to me other than the one you see above. The overpowering early sunlight brings out amazingly long and dark shadows. Mix that with the brick-laid sidewalks and it makes it almost impossible not to get something remotely aesthetically pleasing. My hope is this will be the last digital photo in the collection for a while. I will be picking up a roll of developed film this weekend and will begin playing with ultra-high speed film in night shots. Until then, I hope you enjoy this photo.

Was this photo taken with your digi-cam with the red lens filter thingy?
It is a good picture. I am wondering what it would look like if you cropped it in a way where only the shadows and the sidewalk were visible. Nothing else. No other subjects. Just the shadow of the man and the buildings.
The shadow is quite striking and deep. Very contrasty to the brick sidewalk that is absorbing a lot of light.
