Weekly Photograph - Waiting At The Bus Stop
7.03.07 @ 12:18 amI finally received the 105mm f/2.5 lens for our Nikons last week. The lens definitely needs a little work as the focus barrel is very tight. Still, after getting a roll back and seeing the results, I am definitely impressed. While heading home at around dusk, I went around market and started photographing anything I could find of interest. This simple bus stop scene is one of the photos I took during that excursion.
One of the reasons I enjoy taking the Canon digital SLR out for photos is the ease of autofocus as well as the instant-gratification of seeing your results on the LCD. Still, the pride of taking a shot you link in full manual settings is worth the inconvenience, in my opinion. Shooting in low light is always challenging, so for this photo to come out made me very excited. I am still going through the plethora of negatives from the last round, but from what I have seen, I already am quite happy with this lens.
Shooting with a zoom lens is a little new to me. I have shot with a 50mm ever since I got into photography and I finally have the time and resources to spend on new lenses. Honestly, it is like opening a whole other world. A lens is not going to make a person a better photographer, but it definitely will give that person more opportunities.
