The New Camera Arrives
26.03.07 @ 4:40 pmI have been waiting for this moment for quite a while… I have made a significant upgrade from my trusty Nikon FT2 to the Nikon F3HP. I was introduced to this camera by a friend and I have been pining over it ever since. However, I really did not feel the need for more automation until I began moving toward photographing people - after a few sessions, I really felt that auto-exposure would be a significant help. After a few serious hours with the camera, I am already blown away at how enjoyable it is to shoot with it.
Image courtesy of Nikon I am hoping to shoot a roll (or two) by the end of this week so I can have them ready by next week. Many of our lenses are non-AI which is somewhat of a bummer, but, just like all film equipment, the prices are next to nothing nowadays. After some serious commitment towards trying to like our Canon digital SLR, I have all but given up on it due to the lack of photo quality. Sure, those things are easily fixed with some work in Photoshop, but after a couple hours of doing that, I feel like I need to take a shower. It just does not feel right. With this F3, I really believe that I have enough automation (when I need it) to capture people and dynamic scenes while keeping the photo quality that I expect from a camera. Of course, it is a lot of work, but so is trying to get something decent out of the digital SLR…

Ooh, that looks fun. I might have to add the F3 to my camera wish list.

I highly suggest picking one up - it has been a joy to shoot with this camera.

I own a Nikon F3. It has been very good to me before I bought a Nikon F100. I wouldn’t sell it anytime soon because it’s just such a great workhorse.
